Greetings!
On Wednesday, October 26th, at a regular scheduled meeting, Debbie Andrew, PA Director of Operations and Planning, presented the Dog Park Masterplan for the LRPRA dog park site on Minnieville Road. A staff report and resolution for approval were submitted, as is the process required for development of park sites. Ms. Andrew reminded the Board, that dog parks have been identified as an unmet need in the County for the past ten years. In the staff report, Ms. Andrew reviewed the timeline of the dog park project, any financial obligations required by the Park Authority and the legal aspects of the partnership with Lake Ridge Parks and Recreation Association. She stated that a Public Facility Review of this site, for this use, has occurred and the Planning Commission finding was favorable for a dog park.
There will be minimal operating costs to the Park Authority to maintain the mowing along Minnieville Road, which has been requested in the FY13 budget. The trail through the park will be part of the "powerline loop" trail and operating funds will be available for this starting in FY13. Ms. Andrew reiterated that the development and operation of the dog park will be the responsibility of the support group, who are sponsoring this park who are already organized and ready to move forward.
The PWC Park Authority Board passed Board Resolution No. 11-1026-A1, to accept the Master Plan for the Minnieville Road/LRPRA Dog Park, in a unanimous decision.
